The Future With HilaryCare

Disclaimer:  I'm just an average guy with an above average interest in news and politics.  But hey, here's what I think anyway...

There's a rather sobering article out this week entitled, "Military Files Left Unprotected on the Internet. In a nut shell, the report is about government bureaucrats who left sensative information pertaining to our military operations in Iraq unencrypted on an unprotected website.  Anyone with an internet connection could peruse our military strategy and positions.

This is the same government that Democrats want to put in charge of our healthcare...

Iran (Unwittingly) Joins the War on Terror

Disclaimer: I'm just an average guy with an above average interest in news and politics.  But hey, here's what I think anyway...

What I think...
Apparently al Qaeda is as ticked about Iran's dealings in Iraq as we are.  The al Qaeda Sunnis are upset that Iran's Shia government is arming the Shiite militias in that country, and they've given Iran a two-month ultimatum to stop.

I say get our troops out of the way, and let 'em go at it.  Muslim terrorists killing other Muslim terrorists typically have difficulty finding time to kill Americans...

I Wonder What the "Objective" Panel Will Decide

Disclaimer: I'm just an average guy with an above average interest in news and politics.  But hey, here's what I think anyway...

What I think...
Gee.  I wonder where the "objective" panel is going to come down on this one...

Using the predictible Liberal tactic of claiming to be completely objective while the opposition is simply ideological, and then attempting to silence that opposition, the American Psycological Association has set out to demonize (if not outlaw) "Reparative Therapy" (also known as "Conversion Therapy").  That is the process by which a willing patient seeks treatment for their homosexual desires.

Of course, gay rights groups won't tolerate that kind of bigotry in our society.  How dare an individual repress their homosexual tendencies.  That person just has no right to be straight whether they want to be or not!

Oh, and by the way, the APA has stacked their panel with known gay-rights activists, intentionally omitting the conservative view point.  Still they pompously claim that their findings will be based solely on "science," not "ideology."

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiggggggghhhhhht....

With a report due out in March of 2008 (just in time for the Democrat's nominee for the White House to use it for political purposes), I wonder where the "objective" panel is going to come down on this issue...

Evangeilicals Riot in the Streets!

Disclaimer: I'm just an average guy with an above average interest in news and politics. But hey, here's what I think anyway...

What I think...
Pope Benedict XVI asserted this week that other Christians are "not true churches" and that other denominations do not have the "means of salvation." Evangelicals, infuriated by the Pope's comments, have taken to the streets. Already, 10 people have died due to the fierce rioting and dozens have been injured. Catholic Priests are being drug out of their parishes and shot, execution style, while their churches are set ablaze along with effigies of the Pontiff.

Ok... you caught me... that's not exactly the scenario that unfolded after the Pope's comments. In fact, there hasn't been much of a reaction at all. Now rewind to last September when the Pope alluded to Muslims spreading their faith through violence. How did Muslims react? (See paragraph 1, and simply substitute "Muslim" for "Evangelical").

Then the Pope spent weeks denouncing his comments and apologizing to the "religion of peace." Apperantly he was so intimidated by this experience that he no longer takes on the greatest evil of our time (as his predecessor did with Communism). Instead, he's just going to stick with issuing edicts about "defective" Protestants.

Oh well... At least nobody died...

UNimpressed

Disclaimer: I'm just an average guy with an above average interest in news and politics. But hey, here's what I think anyway...

What I think…
After Kofi Annan stepped down as Secretary General of the U.N., I thought his replacement (Ban Ki Moon of South Korea) might be the change the organization has sorely needed since, well, right after Annan was sworn in. However, Ban's recent editorial in the Washington Post, blaming the violence in Darfur on "man-made climate change," just proves that the U.N. elites will probably never get it. Do they really believe that the Islamists (or militant muslims, if you will) who are slaughtering people in Darfur would otherwise be peaceful, if it weren't for their deeply-held convictions about saving the environment?

The article illustrates the only policy the U.N. is determined to successfully implement: To continue to decline into a state of denial and irrelevance.

Would You Take a Child's Life to Save Your Own?

Disclaimer: I'm just an average guy with an above average interest in news and politics. But hey, here's what I think anyway...

What I think…
Well, in case you missed it, President Bush again vetoed a bill passed by congress to ease restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. This is the type which requires the destruction of a human embryo in order to extract certain types of cells which some scientists claim hold curative potential for many diseases. Well I, for one, would just like to say, "Thank you, Mr. President."

It has never been medically ethical to take one life in order to save another, and don't see how embryos, the most defenseless among us, have suddenly become the exception to that rule. In addition, the President (unfortunately) is not even outlawing the studies, but has only restricted federal tax dollars from being used to fund them. By the way, if this is such a promising science, why don't we let private industries and drug companies invest in the it? The truth is that the private sector does not invest because they do not see the potential. If these cells could do what liberals are telling us they can do, then companies would be investing millions, if not billions, in them because the profits could be enormous! But they're not…

I think Tony Snow, the White House Press Secretary, said it best: "The President does not believe it's appropriate to put an end to human life for research purposes. That's a line he will not cross."

Amen.

Hoping for a Thompson/Steele Ticket

Disclaimer: I'm just an average guy with an above average interest in news and politics. But hey, here's what I think anyway…

What I think…
Well, I've been in the Fred Thompson camp for some time now, but here's an idea I hope his campaign will consider if he were to win the GOP nomination… Pick Michael Steele as your running mate! He's the perfect choice!

First of all, Steele served as Lieutenant Governor of Maryland, so he knows the "second-in-command" role pretty well. He's charismatic and intelligent, and he appeals to a wide range of voters. In fact, Steele almost won his race for the Senate last year, as a Republican, in a heavily Democrat state (Maryland) and in a very bad year for Republicans (2006).

Second, the Democrats will almost certainly have a female or minority candidate at the top of their ticket. Steele breaks the argument that the Dems will undoubtedly and shamelessly make, which is that the GOP is a party of old white men (though Condi Rice, Kay Bailey Hutchison, Thomas Sowell and others may beg to differ).

Thompson's the man, and Steele's the ideal VP candidate! So here's my vote for a Thompson/Steele Ticket in 2008!

Benevolence, Not Governance

Disclaimer: I'm just an average guy with an above average interest in news and politics. But hey, here's what I think anyway…

What I think…
Well I doubt you'll hear much about this from the mainstream media types, but Americans set a record last year by giving almost $300 BILLION to charity. That's almost a thousand bucks for every man, woman, and child in this country. I say we keep a good thing going. Why don't we cut taxes, get rid of all these unnecessary government handouts, and let the benevolence of the American people and private charities do the work in a much more efficient and loving manner.

Capitalism wins again...

Tolerance Still Wins the Day

Disclaimer: I'm just an average guy with an above average interest in news and politics.  But hey, here's what I think anyway...

What I think...
On the very day that Islamo-facists have exported their suicide terror techniques to Western civilization, it's sad to see that the primary concern of London's liberal mayor, Ken Livingstone, is (predictably) tolerance.  Here's what he had to say:

"In this city, Muslims are more likely to be law-abiding than non-Muslims and less likely to support the use of violence to achieve political ends than non-Muslims."

Uh... Reality to Livingstone!  Can you name any non-Muslim group in London (or anywhere for that matter) that would be more likely to "support the use of violence to achieve political ends?"  Anyone at all?

Here's a little advice for you, Mr. Mayor... and it's free...  WAKE UP!  These violent Muslims obviously recognize who their enemy is... you (oh, and anyone else that doesn't hold their perverse ideals).  They want to kill you (and, you guessed it, anyone else who doesn't hold their perverse ideals).  Maybe you should aknowledge them to be enemies as well, and perhaps be a little less tolerant of their violent ideology.

Lessons From a Convicted (and Repeat) Sex Offender

Disclaimer: I'm just an average guy with an above average interest in news and politics.  But hey, here's what I think anyway…

What I think… Sometimes I have a hard time understanding how lawyers can make a certain argument with a straight face. I would like to enter into evidence "Exhibit A," the case of child rapist and murderer, Mark Dean Schwab, and his attorney, Kenneth Studstill. Schwab was convicted in 1991 of kidnapping, raping, and murdering an 11-year-old boy named Junny Rios-Martinez, and was subsequently (and correctly) sentenced to death for his crime. What's worse is that Schwab (now 38 years old) had only recently been released from prison after serving a brief sentence for raping another child.

Now, Schwab's lawyer, Kenneth Studstill, is arguing (I can only assume with a straight face) that Schwab should not be executed because he is a "scientific mystery," and he should be studied in order to find out how we can prevent other pedophiles from raping and killing children.

How about a little common sense, Mr. Studstill. First of all, he should never have been put back on the street in 1991 after having raped another child. He should have been locked up for his egregious offense for the rest of his life. He should never have had the opportunity to kidnap, rape, and kill little Junny. A pedophile who knows that he will receive a life-long jail sentence (with no possibility of parole) for a first offense and a mandatory death penalty (that WILL be carried out) if he kills that child, may think twice before committing the crime.

Mr. Studstill, there is no "mystery" about your client. He's a pervert. And the lessons we learn from Mark Dean Schwab are lessons we've learned far too many times already. And now the murderer needs to put to death, along with anyone else who would dare to take a child's innocence along with that child's life.

The Biology of Abortion

Disclaimer:  I'm Just an average guy with an above average interest in news and politics.  But hey, here's what I think anyway...

What I think... Though abortion has become one of the most volatile subjects in our culture today, there is not a whole lot of debate going on anymore… just inflammatory rhetoric.  I want to do my small part to change that.  All rhetoric aside, I want to prove logically and biologically that life begins at conception be answering two simple questions:

1.  Is the fetus living tissue from the moment of conception?  The answer is simple.  Yes.  We know a tree is alive and a rock is not because the cells of a tree reproduce themselves and the cells of a rock do not.  The same can be applied to human life.  From the point of conception, cells quickly begin reproducing themselves, proving that whether at one day, one week, one month, or full term, there is living tissue growing in the womb.

2.  Are those living cells a unique life, or simply a part of the mother that can be discarded, like the appendix or tonsils?  The answer is equally simple.  If you’ve ever watched “CSI,” then you know that you could take cells from anywhere in a human body (i.e. cheek, blood, skin, hair, etc.), and the DNA code uniquely identifies the person from whom that sample was taken.  However, cells taken from a fetus will hold a uniquely different DNA code from that of the mother, proving that the tissue is not only living but that it is a unique human life, therefore worthy of protection.

Abortion is certainly an emotional and complex issue, but from a biological standpoint, there is no doubt that a unique life begins at conception.  Therefore, responsible people have an obligation to protect that child.

Incendiary Disposal

Disclaimer: I’m just an average guy with an above average interest in news and politics. But hey, here’s what I think anyway…

What I think…
This article is almost funny, in a disgustingly-tragic kind of way. Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, England got into some trouble late last year because it was found that they were disposing of aborted fetuses in the same hospital incinerator as all other medical refuse. Pretty sick, right? But that’s not even the most incendiary part of the article! In it, the author interviews a local woman who had had an abortion at Addenbrooke’s. Here’s what she had to say after learning of the hospital’s disposal policy:  “I am furious and very hurt. Imagine my horror when I discovered that my baby was incinerated in the same furnace as the hospital rubbish.”

Now, I'm as pro-life as they come, and I'm certainly not condoning the hospitals disposal policy.  I just don’t understand how a mother, who has already denied her “baby” (her word) the dignity of life, has any credibility to criticize a hospital for denying it the dignity of a proper disposal.

Pardon Me?!

Disclaimer: I’m just an average guy with an above average interest in news and politics. But hey, here’s what I think anyway...

What I think…
Apparently, Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Chicago) learned all he needed to know about the Constitution from dear ole daddy… yes, his father is Rev. Jesse Jackson, the civil rights activist and profiteer. After Bush commuted Scooter Libby’s sentence last night, here’s what Junior had to say:

“Since the President has intervened in this process, it is now the Congress’ obligation and responsibility to intervene in the executive process and begin an inquiry into these very serious crimes against the Constitution of the United States.”

Really! Crimes against the Constitution? You don’t say! Why this is very serious indeed!  (I hope you’re picking up on the sarcasm). Apparently Rep. Jackson is dead serious though, even invoking the “I” word (impeachment) in describing what he thinks the appropriate action would be for congress to take against the President.

I wonder if Rep. Jackson would care to specify the exact Article and Section of the Constitution against which the President has committed a crime by pardoning Libby. In fact, Article II Section 2 appears to gives the President of the United States the exact authority which he exercised. It says:

“…[the President] shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.”

In other words, the President can pardon anyone he wants, except himself. Congressman (and I use that term loosely), how about a little honesty here? Either bring a specific violation (including Article and Section), or knock off this incendiary rhetoric which only serves to further drive a wedge of division in our country by fooling people who are as ignorant about the Constitution as you are.
