Deviants Act on Their Perversions?

Disclaimer: I'm just an average guy...

Here's what I think anyway...
Sexual deviants act on their perversions.  If they didn't act, they wouldn't be deviants.  Even the New York Times can get that much right.  And, giving some credit where some credit is due, I applaud the NYT for publishing a story today about a recent study by the Federal Bureau of Prisons that is being suppressed from publication.

The Study:  The research was conducted by psychologists at the Federal Bureau of Prisons.  They interviewed 155 anonymous men who are serving prison sentences for possession and distribution of child pornography, and found that a staggering 85% of the men said that they had committed sexual offenses against minors ranging from "inappropriate touching to rape."

Now, the story is about sex offenders, and so of course the NYT had to pay homage at the altar of civil liberties.  It also included standard interviews from some of the most despicable people in the world, including Jill S. Levenson, who is head of the "ethics committee" for the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers.  I found myself wondering which was more laughable...  The fact that the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers has an "ethics committee," or that the head that committee is also a college professor (Lynn University in Florida).  But I digress...

There were some shades of truth though, which is rare, but always refreshing when you're reading the New York Times.  The article quoted a convicted pedophile (not part of the study) who is currently serving a 14-year sentence in a federal prison in Canada.  The anonymous inmate admitted that looking at pornographic images of children gave him "no release" from his perverse desires.  In fact just the opposite was true.  "...[T]here is no way I can look at a picture of a child on a video screen and not get turned on by that and want to do something about it.  I knew that in my mind.  I knew that in my heart.  I didn't want it to happen, but it was going to happen."

Ultimately, this is not news... it's common sense.  Sexual deviants act on their perversions.  This study would help to shine light on that fact, except it is still suppressed from publication.  The Times wants it so that it can be used to find better ways to "treat" these individuals.

I, on the other hand, would like us to declare all out war on the production and distribution of these images, in all their forms, and to campaign against soft sentences for anyone who would dare steal the innocence of a child.

New Study: Criminals Sentenced to Jail Time

Disclaimer: I'm just an average guy...

Here's what I think anyway...
The Sentencing Project, a Washington-based (liberal) think tank found that there are more blacks and hispanics serving prison sentences than whites.  Among the states, Iowa (my home sweet home) was found to have the "highest disparity."  The group's executive director, Marc Mauer, had this to say about the figures: "[They] reflect a failure of social and economic interventions to address crime effectively."  He also claims that there must be a "racial bias" in our justice system.

I disagree.  Here's a good rule of thumb.  If you don't want to go to prison, then don't commit crimes!

Short Circuit Court of Appeals

Disclaimer:  I'm just an average guy...

Here's what I think anyway...  After sexually assaulting a 13-year old girl, Richard W. Thompson was sentenced to 10 years probation, even though he could have received up to 10 years in prison.  And Judge Kristine Cecava's rationale for such a lenient sentence?  She didn't think Thompson, who is only 5-feet-1-inch tall, would "do well in prison."

Attorney General Jon Bruning, rightfully suspecting that probation was far too light, immediately appealed the sentence.  However, the Nebraska Court of Appeals has, just today, upheld Cecava's soft sentence, ruling that even though she sighted his height, she had other "valid reasons" for going easy on him.

For instance, a clinical psychologist examined him and determined that he would not "reoffend" because a test he was given to him which indicated he is, "neither a pedophile nor a sexual predator."  I think that there's a certain 13-year-old Nebraska girl who might disagree with the psychologist's assessment.

So probation it is for this short, yet upstanding member of the Nebraska community.  My guess is that he's willing to put all this behind him, and he'll be out fraternizing with "ladies" his size again, sometime soon...

Reproductive Rights... and Wrongs

Disclaimer: I'm just an average guy...

Here's what I think anyway...
Wow!  The Democrat Presidential candidates are really lusting for the ultra-left wing of their party!  I bet George Soros, Michael Moore, and Co. can hardly contain themselves.

Barack Obama and John Edwards have announced their support not only for universal health care, but universal access to abortions within that system.  And you know Hilary Clinton is sure to follow, claiming (of course) that it's been her position all along.

So abortion would remain legal, the partial-birth abortion ban would be repealed, and moral opponents would be forced to pay for every last one of the procedures with their tax dollars.

Every time they open their mouths, the Democrat Presidential candidates prove that when it comes to health care, and particularly "reproductive rights," they're dead wrong.

An Air-Tight Case for Securing the Border

Disclaimer:  I'm just an average guy...

Here's what I think anyway
... I posted "A Water-Tight Case for Securing the Border" last week.  ABC News' Brian Ross has now made the case air tight.  Ross, quoting an FBI intelligence report, says that "Iraqis and other Middle Eastern" people are now being smuggled accross our southern border.

These are well-paying individuals, too.  They're paying between $20,000 and $25,000 each to be smuggled into the U.S.  That sounds like a little bit more than the average Iraqi can come up with... Who's financing them?

I guess I just don't buy the idea that these are just poor Iraqis, fleeing their war-torn country in search of a better life.  These are terrorists, sneaking into the U.S. in order to set up cells that will attack and kill innocent Americans.

Secure our borders NOW!

Free Advice for John McCain

Disclaimer:  I'm just an average guy...

Here's what I think anyway...  Since Senator John McCain is having such a hard time raising money, and he's tossing out his Presidential campaign employees like cargo from a sinking ship, I thought I would offer him a piece of free advice...

Senator, it's over.  It's not your campaign director or finance chief... it's you.  You're the problem.  You've worked too hard for too long to endear yourself to liberals and the liberal press, and you've left us behind.  You've taken maverick positions on important issues, and you've left us behind.  You're now standing firm in your convictions on legislation we don't want (i.e. amnesty for illegal aliens), and you're continuing to leave us behind.

We'd rather have someone who will listen to us, and bring us along in the process.  Enjoy the rest of your career in the Senate, because if we have anything to say about it, that's the highest office you're ever gonna hold.

So save your money... And save your breath...

Congressional Democrats Paying Their "Dues"

Disclaimer:  I'm just an average guy...

Here's what I think anyway... Unions certainly did their financial part to help Democrats win the 2006 election, and now their willing accomplices in the "most ethical Congress in history" are paying their dues.

Let's just look quickly at a couple pieces of legislation that the unions need in order really take care of the little guy...

1.  When a group of workers is considering collective bargaining, they've always had the right to a secret ballot.  Then neither their company nor the union know how the individual voted.  Unions would now like a public ballot, so they can see how each worker voted.  I guess if the measure doesn't pass, this gives the union the ability to help "persuade" (coerce) that worker the next time around.

2.  Workers have always had the option of not joining a union as well.  A worker doesn't have to pay the dues and the union doesn't work on behalf of that employee.  However, now unions want every non-union employee in a union profession to pay "fees" to them, even though the individual has opted not to join.  I guess you can't really blame the Union bosses though... their memberships have been falling drastically over the past few years, and they have to find some way to pay their lucrative salaries.  Oh... and I wonder if any of those "fees" get contributed to Democrat campaigns...

3.  Finally, the "most ethical Congress in history" has actually found a government agency to which they want to cut funding.  Amazing right?  Well, at least until you know what that agency does.  It's the Office of Labor Management Standards (OLMS).  What is it about the OLMS that makes Democrats want to cut 20% of its funding while at the same time raising the Labor Department's total funding by $935 million?  The department "monitors the compliance of unions with federal law."

In other words, Democrats are trying to give Unions all the tools that they need to exploit and coerce the workers of our nation, while at the same time trying to cut the Labor Department's ability to monitor such abuses.

Why would the "most ethical Congress in history" be fighting for something so unethical?

Best Suited for Prison Ministry

Disclaimer: I'm just an average guy...

Here's what I think anyway...
A $660 million settlement was reached this week between the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles and alleged victims of clergy sex abuse.  Cardinal Roger Mahoney, head of the L.A. Archdiocese had nothing to say during the hearing, but did offer an apology afterward, and said he would spend the rest of his day praying for those who were claiming to be abused.  I'm sure they all found that very comforting.

Honestly... who does this guy think he is?  He's the one who has allegedly been covering up these scandals for years in order to protect the Catholic Church.  He'll never have to testify about it though, as $660 million can buy a lot of forgiveness.  Consider it a modern-day "indulgence" (indulgences, while now associated with doing good works in order to atone for sin, used to be a fee that a lay person had to pay the Catholic Church in order to be "forgiven").

Mahoney's never been a big fan of abiding by civil law though... this is the same guy who, last year, told his priests to ignore immigration measures and hide illegal aliens.  The New York Times loved his "courageous" call for "civil disobedience," but I'm somewhat less than impressed.

The bottom line here is that a lot of sex offenders (Priests) and their abettors (i.e. Mahoney) are getting off pretty easy here.  The $660 million is coming from the pockets of Catholic lay people, who have given faithfully to the church.  What penalty is there for the law-breaking Mahoney and his ilk?  None.  He walks out of the courtroom and goes to "pray" for the victims.

But more importantly, the priests who abused their position in order to abuse children are walking free, and still sporting their clerical collars nonetheless!  These are men who are not suited to be ministering to people in a local parish.  They are better suited to prison ministry... as a fellow inmate.

Democrats' Strategy for Unity

Disclaimer: I'm just an average guy...

Here's what I think anyway...
Leave it to the Democrats to find new and inventive ways to rise above politics and unite our country!  It's very inspiring!

Let's hear the unifying message of America's first Muslim Congressman Keith Ellison (D-MN).  Why just today, he compared the 9/11 attacks to the burning of the Reichstag (German Parliament Building) in 1933.  It's probable that Hitler actually ordered the burning of the building so that he could blame it on his enemies and seize extraordinary executive powers.  According to Ellison, Hitler and Bush are birds of a feather... and Cheney's in on it, too!

Apparently, this is the definition of leadership in the Democrat party.  Who needs ideas or an honest debate?  Just compare the leader of the free world to one of the most notorious genocidal killers in history.  All the libs are using that one these days.  Rosie O'Donnell is really setting some positive trends, isn't she?!

Hopefully the voters of Minnesota will recognize his hateful and dangerous rhetoric, and will throw this bum out in 2008.  But who knows... this is the state that elected Jesse "The Body" Ventura as their governor.

Image Over Justice

Disclaimer... I'm just an average guy...

Here's what I think anyway...
Wow.  Michigan sure knows how to pick their public university presidents, don't they?  Last year, University of Michigan President Mary Sue Coleman said that she would enforce an admissions policy that gave preference to women and minorities, even after voters amended the state's constitution to disallow such preferences.  She would later be forced to comply, though the University is continuing to use the peoples' tax dollars to fight the peoples' will in court!  Amazing.

Now we read that the President of Eastern Michigan University, John Fallon, is being fired due to allegations that he and other school officials covered up the rape and murder of a student in order to "protect the school's image."  Now, we've read about a lot of ridiculocities coming out of liberal academia (see Duke "Rape" Case, Ward Churchill, etc. ad naseum), but this one really takes the cake.

Can you imagine the pain that her parents must being going through, having lost a child?  And in such a horrible manner?  Now multiply that by the added insult of a public institution of higher "education," to which you're paying a lot of money, trying to cover up that crime to protect their image!  It's insane!

The action against Mr. Fallon, and anyone else involved in this horrible scam, should not stop at simply losing their jobs.  There needs to be a legal investigation to find out if there was obstruction of justice or other crimes committed as they attempted to help a murder walk free for the sake of their precious image.

Perhaps the Michigan Board of Regents needs to be held accountable for the type of people they're putting in charge of their public institutions.

Gilmore's Out

Disclaimer: I'm just an average guy...

Here's what I think anyway...
I read over the weekend that Jim Gilmore has dropped his bid to be the GOP nominee for President.  Gilmore (former Governor of Virginia) seemed pretty solidly conservative to me, but in a crowded field, he couldn't really get his message out there.  Just a note to the 13 or 14 Gilmore supporters out there... I hope you'll consider supporting Fred Thompson...

Separation of Mosque and State?

Disclaimer: I'm just an average guy...

Here's what I think anyway...
Imagine this scenario.  Houston, Texas has decided to open a new public school.  There's a catch though... it's Christian!  Classes include Old and New Testament studies, Hebrew and Greek, and Biblical Morality... GASP!  Its doors would never open.  The ACLU and their ilk would be filing lawsuits under the guise of "seperation of church and state."  The mainstream media would be running hit stories about the mayor, school board members, and any other elected official involved.  There would be pathetic interviews of people talking about how offended they are that their tax dollars are funding a Christian school... oh the humanity!

Well, Christians wouldn't be able to get away with it, but apparently Muslims can.  Exhibit A: "The Khalil Gibran International Academy for Arabic and Islamic Culture," which is slated to open their doors this fall.  KGIA is, for lack of a better term, the first PUBLIC Madrasa in the United States.  Their classes will include intensive Arabic language studies, which is not a bad thing in and of itself, but it also will include studies in Islamic culture (as the name of the school indicates).  And all of this is funded by tax dollars.

That's right and here's what the ACLU and mainstream media have to say about it:

    "(Insert Silence Here)"

The Amazingly Flexible First Amendment

Disclaimer: I'm just an average guy...

Here's what I think anyway...
I don't know about you, but it's funny to me how much liberals scream about first amendment rights when it comes to flag burning or airing expletives on network television (you know... what our Founders really had in mind when they penned the Bill of Rights).  But apparently it's flexible enough to dismiss when it doesn't fit their world view.  Here are a couple significant examples...

1.  Limiting debate (Video reference listed below):  Here John Edwards and Hilary Clinton, perhaps a bit weary of being subtly slammed by their Democrat Party rivals, are overheard plotting to "cut the number" of candidates they will allow on the debate stage.  Now I certainly don't think that Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel add very much to the debate, but this is America and they are legitimate, declared candidates, and they should be allowed on the stage.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-WsvQhVmhc&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fkevinmccullough%2Etownhall%2Ecom%2F

2.  S. 1105 (Hate Crime Legislation):  It was quietly introduced into the U. S. Senate a couple months ago by none other than Ted Kennedy (D-MA).  Ultimately, this will be used to silence religious groups who teach that homosexuality is an immoral lifestyle, and is not equal to heterosexual marriage.  It's also a violation of the 14th Amendment, which guarantees all citizens equal treatment under the law, but that's another story.  http://www.hslda.org/Legislation/National/2007/S1105/default.asp
and http://media.pfaw.org/Right/HILC_Rollcall.pdf

3.  The Fairness Doctrine:  Liberals are pretty upset that they are losing every debate to smarter, more articulate talk radio hosts.  So here's a page out of the Communist playbook... if you can't beat 'em, shut 'em up.  This is going pretty well for Chavez right now in Venezuela.  And what's good for Chavez is good for any Lib!  This unconstitutional doctrine states that no program host can share his/her viewpoint without giving the opposing viewpoint EQUAL time.  A host can no longer choose their own guests and topics.  The government will be stepping in to "help" them in the booking process.  Hilary Clinton has already been overheard in the Senate (along with Barbara Boxer) expressing her desire to bring revive the "Fairness Doctrine," and that's exactly what she'll do as President.  It's a bit ironic though, that she so concerned about the opposing view being heard, but is also serious about cutting down the number of voices heard on the Democrats debate stage.
http://www.heritage.org/Research/Regulation/EM368.cfm

Oh well... that's just part of the flexibility of the First Amendment!

A Water-Tight Case for Securing the Border

Disclaimer: I'm just an average guy...

Article to Reference:  "Al-Qaida Works to Plant U.S. Operatives"  http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8QBJ6C80&show_article=1"

What I think...
The title says it all, but the first paragraph is pretty scary, too...

"Al-Qaida is stepping up its efforts to sneak terror operatives into the United States and has acquired most of the capabilities it needs to strike here, according to a new U.S. intelligence assessment..."

I realize all the politicians are jockeying for the Hispanic vote, but enough is enough!  We hire them to protect us, not for them to devise ways to secure their own power.  And I doubt there are any Hispanics who really want to risk their life coming to this country only to be blown up by an al Qaida terrorist, who probably entered the country the same way the Hispanic did and who, if given the opportunity, will kill civilians indiscriminately.  Secure the borders NOW!

Nobel's Warriors

Disclaimer:  I'm just an average guy...

After beginning her rousing speech by asking the audience to "hug everyone around them," Nobel Prize winner Betty Williams of Ireland proved her merit for the prestigious award by saying she would like to kill George W. Bush... in a "non-violent" way, of course.

This is nothing new.  She said the same thing a year ago, except her audience was a group of school children.  There's a good lesson.  If you don't like the President's policy, you should want to kill him.  It shouldn't surprise us though.  Yassar Arafat is a Nobel laureate as well.

In other highlights from her speech, she said that President Bush has "acted unconstitutionally."  Like any Liberal making this charge (even Irish ones), she can't cite any specific Article or Section of the Constitution that's been violated.  I guess it's just easier to fool people that way.  Just ask Congressional Democrats (i.e. Jesse Jackson Jr.).

She also said, "The Muslim world is suffering beyond belief."  That, of course, is President Bush's fault, and not the warring Muslim sects (i.e. Sunni v. Shia or Fatah v. Hamas) running around blowing each other up, along with any civilians they can catch in the cross fire.

Then she added, "Unless the President of the United States is held responsible for what he's doing and what he has done, there's no one in the Muslim world who will for give him."  Right... and we all know how forgiving Muslims are once you apologize and give them what they want.  Just ask Israel.

And just to top it all off, Williams declared, "It's hard to be an American and go out into the world right now."  Because no one knows better how difficult it is to be an American than an Irish Nobel Prize winner...
