At the Pleasure of the President?

Behold the reasoned and responsible orations of the "MoveOn" Dems...

Transcript - Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA):
"Republicans sure don't care about finding $200 billion to fight the illegal war in Iraq.  Where are you going to get that money?  Are you going to tell us lies like you're telling us today?  Is that how you're going to fund the war?  You don't have money to fund the war or children.  But you're going to spend it to blow up innocent people if he can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the President's amusement."

Brief, yet vaguely intelligible... wouldn't you say?

Shoot Drugs, Not Commercials

I guess San Francisco doesn't feel like they're breaking enough federal laws yet to be truly radical... so here's their newest idea!  City health officials hope to spend tax payers' money to set up "safe-injection rooms."  They claim that these would offer a safe place "where addicts could shoot up heroin, cocaine, and other drugs under the supervision of nurses."  And despite the fact that using these drugs is against the law, they will not have to fear being arrested for using illegal narcotics there.

Here's a better idea... why not spend the money helping them break the habits before they fry their brains and have to spend the rest of their lives on government assistance (a.k.a. federal tax dollars) because they can't hold a job or even stop screaming at the imaginary people who keep talking to them.

It's ironic... San Francisco will not allow our brave military men to shoot a commercial on the streets of their city, but the red carpet is rolled out for junkies... makes perfect sense.

Parents Losing Rights in Maine (Updated)

Here's an update to a post from last week.  It's official.  Portland, Maine middle schools will now be offering birth control pills to girls as young as 11, without parental permission.  Most schools still can't give students over-the-counter asprin, but prescription pills in Portland are fine...

I have no overt objection to birth control and if parents want to give it to their own teenagers, then that is their choice.  It should not be forced on them by government.

Village To Get Its Idiot Back?

Sources close to Presidential hopeful Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS) are saying he may soon drop out of the race, citing his inability to raise money as the main factor.  Is it really money?  Or is it the fact that, even with a limited amount of publicity, his incompetence has managed to turn most of the Conservative base against him?

My bet is that he'll endorse Gov. Romney and sink his campaign, too... or maybe that's just wishful thinking...

Vast Right-Wing Mugging (Update)

Lots of garnishes

I wrote about Randi Rhodes yesterday on my post "Vast Right Wing Mugging"... She's the Air America (liberal) talk show host that fell the other night while "walking her dog," though it was widely reported that she was attacked by members of "the right-wing hate machine" in order to silence and intimidate her.  Now it turns out she may have just been extremely drunk!  Here's a post from the Gawker that gives a possible explanation you won't see in the mainstream media:

"Randi Rhodes was no more assaulted by a right-wing fanatic Monday than Dick Cheney was.  She, in fact, fell down and injured her teeth outside of a Midtown Irish bar at around 6 o'clock Sunday evening after downing about fourteen Ketel One Bloody Marys.  She was abusive to the barstaff and generally gross, crass, loud, and pretentious."

Well, that explains why she didn't file a police report for the "mugging" that was widely reported by fellow Liberal host Jon Elliott and all the tin foil hat wearers on the Left-wing blogosphere (though to Elliott's credit, he has apologized for "jumping to conclusions based on an emotional reaction.").  It may also explain how Rhodes injured her teeth... most people put their hands out to stop their fall.  If you've had 14 bloody marys, you just can't quite react in time to keep from face planting into the sidewalk.

Liberals never ceases to amaze, do they?

Home School is Neglect?

A public school district in Missouri has filed a complaint of "educational neglect" against Anita Nicoli, a mother who decided to start home schooling her children after multiple incidences of bullying from other students were ignored by the administration.  The last draw was a child drawing a picture of herself pointing a gun at Nicoli's daughter.  This is a chilling reminder that government is attempting to tell parents all over this country that they can raise your kids better than you can, and they'll even use legal intimidation to do it.

Hillary Would Go to War for Oil?

The Associated Press (certainly no bastion of conservative journalists) reported this week that presidential hopeful Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) laid out a policy that advocates the possibility of using military force against Iran "if it were to disrupt oil supplies."

That's right... Hillary is now on record saying she would go to war for oil...

Vast Right-Wing Mugging

The left-wing blogosphere has been fuming lately about an alleged mugging of Air America (liberal) talk radio host Randi Rhodes.  They've been ranting on and on about a right wing conspiracy aimed at silencing the obscure host of the bankrupt network.  Fellow Air America host John Elliott railed on the air about the "right-wing hate machine" attempting to "silence" and "intimidate" those on the Left.

Scarey, right?  Well, not really.  Today, Rhodes admitted that she simply fell while walking her dog and was not attacked at all.  In fact, she didn't even file a police report!  I suppose Elliot's next story will be that the "right-wing hate machine" was so successful in silencing her that she won't even admit that she was actually attacked!

Well, you know the Left's unrivaled talent at manufacturing conspiracy in spite of the facts...

Parents Losing Rights in Maine

In another arrogant attempt by government to tell its citizens that politicians can rear children better than parents can, a school board in Maine is considering a resolution that would allow the school to prescribe birth control pills to middle school students... grades 6-8 (ages 11-14)... WITHOUT PARENTAL NOTIFICATION!  That's asinine!

Let's let parents teach values to their own children and deal with the consequences.  If you raise promiscuous kids, you get to raise your grandchildren.  Most parents take the responsibility of raising moral children seriously, and it's not the right of government to usurp that from everyone because 4% of district parents don't.  And guess what... if you offer free birth control to all kids, who don't have to inform their parents, more than 4% will be doing it in the future.

Pills don't provide any protection against STD's either.  What are you going to do when there's an outbreak of Chlamidya or even AIDS?  Are you going to treat the kids for a serious disease without their parents' knowledge?

The decisions we make in life are not void of consequences... To teach kids that they are free from accountability, even from their own parents, is arrogant and irresponsible.  Hopefully more parents in Maine are considering private schools or home school.

Toe-Tappin' Senator is Still Around?

A Minnesota judge today rejected a request by Senator Larry Craig (R-ID) to withdraw his guilty plea regarding his alleged attempt to solicit gay sex in an airport bathroom.  Judge Charles Porter wrote: "Because the defendant's plea was accurate, voluntary, and intelligent, and because the conviction is supported by the evidence...the defendant's motion to withdraw his guilty plea is denied."

Despite the judge's decision, and Craig's previous statement that he would resign at the end of September, Sen. Craig has today vowed that he will serve the remainder of his term in the Senate.

Senator, you're guilty!  Quit this ridiculous charade to "clear your name."  You've already ruined it, not to mention the immeasurable damage you've done to the pro-family movement.  Even if you can legally wiggle your way out of a guilty plea, Americans are not going to conclude, "Oh, I guess he didn't try to have sex with a stranger in a public restroom."  You're an embarrassment to your state, your party, and conservatives everywhere.

So shut up, resign, and get out of the news.

Dem's Vision for Early Sex Ed

The leading Democrat presidential candidates confirmed in a debate this week that they support introducing adult topics such as homosexual sex and "marriage" to young grade-school students.  The controversy began last year when a Massachusetts teacher read a book called "King & King," a fairy tale about two princes that fall in love.  The Dems minced no words in expressing their desire to see such radical, adult curriculum introduced to small children.

That's the same Barack Obama (D-IL) that told us only a few months ago that sex education in kindergarten is "the right thing to do," and that what is "age appropriate" should be decided "on a case by case basis by local communities and local school boards."

Well, this local school board is standing by the teacher who read the story, disregarding the complaints of several families of children who were present.  Senator Obama, isn't this exactly the abuse that parents worry about?  Why can't we leave values to the family?

Reading this book and discussing radical, adult topics with grade schoolers is NOT the right thing to do.  Unfortunately, these Democrat candidates are too beholden to their own special interest groups to condemn it.

Is There Anything Hillary Won't Promise?

In her insatiable lust for power, I wonder if there is anything Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) won't promise.  Her latest proposal would be for the government to give every child $5000 when they're born so that the child has money to go to college of purchase a home.  With about 4 million babies born each year in the U.S., that a $20 billion proposal, not to mention what it will cost to open another government bureaucracy overseeing the program.  She doesn't offer a plan on how to pay for it though... big surprise.

Does it make sense to anyone else that our extremely inefficient government should tax a child's parents more, only to turn around and give their child $5000?  Why not let parents save for their own children?  Then when a child grows up, the family can decide how to spend the money, rather than the government.

Brownback's Yellow Belly

It's interesting to me that Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS) introduces legislation now, in the middle of his campaign for president, that would require doctors to show ultrasound images of a baby before it's aborted.  It seems to me he's just trying to curry favor with conservative evangelicals, which his incompetent campaign has thus far only managed to insult, alienate, and malign.  If he really had any moral courage on this issue, he would not have waited until three months before the presidential primaries to introduce it.  And in reality, this legislation will do little to stem the tide of legal abortion in this country, nor the steady flow of tax dollars that go to the special interest groups who perform them.

The legislation is a palliative in that it's attempting to deal with the peripheral issues surrounding abortion, rather that the faulty court decision that legalized it in the first place.  It's also a placebo, designed to trick conservative voters into thinking that Brownback is a couragous, pro-life warrior.  Fortunately, it seems like pretty much everyone is able to see through his little facade, as he is still showing at less than 5% in the national polls.

In reality, he's nothing more than a politically-calculating coward.

In the Mold of Senator Kerry

The good news is that Jesse Adam Macbeth, 23, admitted today in a federal courtroom that he faked his war record.  The bad news is that this comes after claiming in a YouTube video, which has been viewed by millions, that he had slaughtered civilians as a U.S. Army Ranger in Iraq.

These Liberals have no shame in what lies they will dream up to dishonor the brave men and women who serve and protect our country.  No word yet on whether Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) and the media tycoons at the "New Republic" are sticking with the propaganda version, despite the fact that the extent of Macbeth's military service was forty days in boot camp before he was discharged for being "unfit."

By the way, the video was "translated into Arabic and distributed in the Middle East."  I doubt our enemies take the same pains to translate and distribute his admission in court that he's full of $*#!.  And Liberals only want to blame Bush for our reputation in the Middle East... what a crock!

So this charlatan joins the ranks of Scott Thomas Beauchamp (The New Republic's false "Baghdad Diarist"), who are among the greatest traitors of our generation.  Oh well... at least the boy has a future as a Massachusetts senator...
