Governor Elliot Spitzer (D-NY) has announced that his is pulling the plug on his controversial plan to give driver's licenses to illegal immigrants. What he won't tell you is that the reason he's scrapping the program is that, even in liberal New York, people don't want that program! His job approval ratings have tanked!
Too bad... we're still waiting to find out exactly where Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) stands on the issue, and I bet she was about to give a stratight answer on it any day now... And not to sound too much like a conspiracy theorist, but since this was becoming a liability to her national campaign for President, do you think that she forced Spitzer's hand at all in dumping the program?
Who knows... but the debate is just going to shift to San Francisco now anyway...
