Free Speech, Columbia-Style

Fortunately, Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will not be visiting Ground Zero on his trip to New York.  He will be speaking at Columbia University though...

Dean of the Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs defended the decision saying, "Opportunities to hear, challenge, and learn from controversial speakers of different views are central to the education and training of students for citizenship in a shrinking and still dangerous world."

Apparently the opportunity to "hear, challenge, and learn from controversial speakers" only applies to Islamo-fascist dictators and not to controversial American conservatives, as Columbia's Political Union voted this past Monday to cancel a speaking appearance by "Minuteman Project" (an anti-illegal immigration group) founder, Jim Gilchrist.  They prevented him from speaking at the University last year, too, but that only because a bunch of liberal students violently rushed the stage just as Gilchrist was about to start his speech, and he had to be whisked away for his own safety.

So, just to review... Islamo-fascist dictator arming, training, and funding terrorists around the world as well as fighting a proxy war against the U.S in Iraq- PLESAE STOP BY AND SPEW YOUR ANTI-BUSH HATRED TO OUR STUDENTS.  American citizen who advocating that the U.S. government enforce its own immigration laws- CENSORED!

Don't you just love the Liberal establishment's commitment to "free speech?"
