Disclaimer: I'm just an average guy...
Here's what I think anyway... The Sentencing Project, a Washington-based (liberal) think tank found that there are more blacks and hispanics serving prison sentences than whites. Among the states, Iowa (my home sweet home) was found to have the "highest disparity." The group's executive director, Marc Mauer, had this to say about the figures: "[They] reflect a failure of social and economic interventions to address crime effectively." He also claims that there must be a "racial bias" in our justice system.
I disagree. Here's a good rule of thumb. If you don't want to go to prison, then don't commit crimes!
